He believed that education should begin, in this matter, in our families, but that was no reason why the Yearly Meeting should not look into the matter. He thought it might well rest upon the minds of Friends for a year, and that the suggestion of T. P. was a good one. /. S. Fry thought there was no doubt that a religious education was giveu, and that our principles were well taught; but he thought the meeting would do well to inquire as to the general religious influences prevailing in our schools, though he had no reason to doubt that these were generally good. But there was a strong tendency in the present day, with so much competition amongst schools and amongst subjects, for religious education to be to some extent pressed aside. He thought it would be well for the Yearly Meeting to take the subject under its particular car--. Joseph Armfield said that as regarded the school under the care of London and Middlesex Quarterly Meeting full attention was paid to scriptural and doctrinal education A year or two ago a full report on the subject was presented to the Quarterly Mee.iug which he believed satisfied Friends that the matter was well attended to. The Clerk read a minute directing Quarterly Meetings to furnish reports to the Yearly Meeting next year. It struck him that the Yearly Meeting would do well to leave the question of a conference of men and women Friends to the care of those who should then have the arrangements, as it would somewhat depend upon the character of the reports.
